Kickstarter Watch: NOISZ re:IIVERSE

I’m a sucker for interesting mashups of game genres and mechanics. Most of the time, this shows itself in one interesting mechanic, r one particular part of a game that’s particularly innovative. Not so with NOISZ, which is all about mixing genres and mechanics in creating a visual novel, Bullet Hell Rhythm game. I first ran into NOISZ at last year’s PLAY NYC Convention, had a chance to talk with the developers a bit and try the game.

Now, the NOISZ team are on Kickstarter looking to crowdfund NOISZ re:IIVERSE, an expansion adding more content, replay value and expanded depth to the core game.


NOISZ is an unprecedented mix of rhythm game, bullet hell shoot-em-up, and visual novel. Battle a variety of challenging and unique bosses by performing actions to the beat, in order to progress through a massive anime-inspired narrative full of surprising twists and colorful characters! re:||VERSEis a massive evolution of all the things that already make NOISZ great, which not only brings tons of new content, but also adds huge replay value and depth to existing material.

The base game is available on Steam now, and kind of has to be experienced to be understood best. Luckily, there’s a free demo!

Gameplay can be boiled down to dodging enemy attacks to the beat, making use of your shields to adsorb the blue attacks while staying out of the way of red ones. there is A LOT going on, and it’s quite an overwhelming experience at first, but at the same time, it’s so utterly unique you cannot help but give it a chance to take hold.


The re:||VERSE expansion adds a ton of additional flexibility and options to the core gameplay. In it, you’ll be able to collect Modules whichyou can then use to customize a special C skill, which you can attach to your style (think class) which you’ve edited in the Style Lab with more than 40 combinations.
There’s also the addition of HERZ, which act as an overall indicator of your achievements in NOISZ. As you achieve higher grades on songs  and obtain achievements, you’ll increase your HERZ score, and unlock hidden content!

Finally, re:||VERSE adds the re:||VENGE difficulty level to the game, higher than overload and meant to brutalize even the most hardcore players. This difficulty is exclusive to re:||VERSE’s new stages, and is unlocked by clearing stages on Overload and collecting HERZ.

NOIZMAKERS have a $2,500 goal for this Kickstarter and have currently raised $531. The crowdfunding campaign is looking to achieve its goal by February 12th.
