We’ve been quietly observing the Indie VR scene from the sidelines at IndieHangover. There’s tons of interesting projects propelling the medium forward, many of them indie.
Schlocks is a Wario Ware style game that just released on Early Access on Steam, with tons of varied mini games, each taking no more than 10 seconds. You’ll be swatting bee’s, cleaning dishes, and chopping trees, all with the idea of testing different products in a department store style setting.
It’s madness, it’s fast paced, and it looks damn fun.
We had the chance to talk with Patrick Ryan, Schlock’s developer, about what attracted him to working in VR, the challenges he encountered in making a party game in this medium, and what the appeal of 1950’s department stores was.
Our thanks to Patrick for taking the time to talk with us about Schlocks and his history as a developer.
