Steampunk and Cyberpunk are pretty well known sub-genre’s at this point, but it’s not often that I see dieselpunk stories. That’s part of the reason I’m excited to check out INSOMNIA: The Ark, a massive dieselpunk RPG being crafted by Studio Mono, a ten-person indie team from Samara, Russia, which will be released on Steam on September 27th
INSOMNIA: The Ark is a dieselpunk sci-fi RPG about the slowly degrading remnants of human society attempting to survive on an abandoned space metropolis. Players will develop their character, explore lovingly handcrafted locations, interact with peculiar NPCs and factions, and try to stay alive in this brutal world.
To say this project is ambitious would be selling it a bit short. Studio Mono have been working on INSOMNIA for 8 years, and the game will feature more than 60 hours of content, including 70 locations, 250 key characters (with over 200,000 words of dialogue), four NPC companions, and 12 different endings to the story. Those are some pretty impressive numbers, and it’s clear this game is a labor of love for the team.
INSOMNIA: The Ark will release on Steam on September 27th for $29.99.
