Brazilian indie development company Swordtales released a trailer for their adventure game Toren earlier this month. The game looks intriguing, let alone beautiful, but the game is also a interesting case in funding.
Toren is being funded by a government program, established by Brazil to assist in funding projects such as this:
Toren™ is one of the first games being supported by Brazilian Cultural Incentive Law, The company that support the project may deduct part of the amount invested in their income tax. In addition, the brand will appear in the starting and ending credits, as well as in Toren’s promotional materials.
It’s an interesting alternative in a field saturated with Kickstarters and Indiegogo campaigns.
