Interview: Owen Bell on Mendel

Interview: Owen Bell on Mendel

Mendel is coming out this Friday, and ahead of the game’s release, I wanted to make sure we made time to talk with Owen Bell, the developer of this unique game about plant genetics, set on a colorful alien world.

In this interview we talk about where the idea for Mendel came from, how Owen translated plant genetics into game mechanics, and what drew him to independent game development. It’s a great insight into this game’s development, and you’ll even learn some of Mendel’s surprising inspirations:

Our thanks to Owen for taking the time to talk with us and share some of the design philosophy behind Mendel.

Mendel will be out September 7th on itch.io and Steam.

Stay tuned for our full review on Friday!
