Interview: Nick Defossez of ILD Games

Interview: Nick Defossez of ILD Games

I’m not usually a player of that many mobile indie games, being a pretty solid PC guy myself, so when a mobile game does grab my attention, it usually makes me pay extra close attention. Squatbot was one of these games, and the lack of a UI (something I love in games) and superbly executed, simple mechanics makes the game stand out in a crowded genre.

I had the opportunity to talk with Nick Defossez, one of the designers at ILD Games, about Squatbot,  and we discussed where the idea for this take on a movement mechanic came from, how Squatbot has evolved, and what drew him to indie game development.

Our thanks to Nick for taking the time to talk with and share his insight and the story of Squatbot.

You can find out more about Squatbot on the ILD Games website, and can find Squatbot itself on the Google Play Store.

You can check out our older Indie Dev Interviews to learn more about the stories behind a whole host of other indie games, as well as the motivations of the people that make them. Comment, like and subscribe to our YouTube channel if you find them interesting and want more!
