We don’t know much, but we know it’s on the way.  Yesterday, Mode 7 Games it was working on Frozen Synapse 2, a sequel to 2011’s strategic sci-fi shooter Frozen Synapse.

All we have currently is a screenshot and the cryptic descriptor of “Open World Tactics”, but the original Frozen Synapse was well received and reviewed, so I am hopeful to see what is being developed.

More details about Frozen Synapse 2 are on the way though: the game will be shown off and talked about at the  PC Gamer Weekender, March 5-6, at London’s Old Truman Brewery.

Lead designer and programmer Ian Hardingham will demo an early build as his partner in crime and Frozen Synapse composer Paul Kilduff-Taylor attempts to ruin his every move… Kilduff-Taylor will go in-depth on the game’s music, art direction and narrative, breaking down what ‘open world tactics’ actually means. And if that weren’t enough, from time to time they’ll dip into the history of indie development and how Mode 7 has been shaped.

As more details emerge, I am interested to see what Open World Tactics ends up meaning, as the two terms usually are pretty disparate in my mind.
