Motion Twin has announced that their Castlevania inspired rogue-lite action platformer, Dead Cells, will have a retail release for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 in August 2018 through their partnership with Merge Games, in addition to a digital release on consoles and a full release on PC.
The developer has provided a brief summary of the game:
“Dead Cells puts you in control of a failed alchemic experiment trying to figure out what’s happening on a sprawling, ever-changing and seemingly cursed Island.Tough but fair combat, responsive controls, challenging foes, permadeath and of course, the emergency panic roll, make for a demanding, visceral and cathartic action game. “
Dead Cells is available in Early Access on Steam and GOG.com for $19.99 USD, and on the Razer Game Store with a 33 percent discount for a limited time. Since its original May 2017 Early Access release, Dead Cells has been able to sell more than 700,000 copies. The most recent update for the Early Access version, named “The Baguette Update”, has completely reworked several core features, has added a few new features, and according to the developer contains, “the kind of polish you expect from a finished game.”
