During the March 2020 Indie World Showcase publisher Merge Games and developer Darkscreen games announced that their indie crossover fighting game Bounty Battle will be coming to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC some time in Summer 2020.
Bounty Battle is a 2D fighting game for one to four players featuring over 25 playable characters from over 20 different indie games, with each character having their own minion as well as distinct abilities. As of writing, Bounty Battle will feature characters from Guacamelee!, Darkest Dungeon, Dead Cells, Awesomenauts, Nuclear Throne, Owlboy, Axiom Verge, SteamWorld Dig, Jotun, Battle Chasers Nightwar, Death’s Gambit, EITR, Super Comboman, Pankapu, Flinthook, Doko Roko, Tower of Samsara, Blubber Busters, Ruin of the Reckless, The Bug Butcher, and Blocks that Matter.
Key features in Bounty Battle will include a story mode, couch multiplayer, practice and tutorial modes, over 10 arenas to fight in, and multiple color and palette swap options for each character.
In addition to the digital release, a physical version of Bounty Battle from Signature Edition is also planned to be released for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4. The signature edition of Bounty Battle is planned to include a region free copy of the game, four limited edition pins featuring playable characters Atlas, Lazarus, Lillith, and Tyran, a numbered collector’s certificate printed with developer’s signatures, a 34-page booklet with information on all the characters featured in the game, a sturdy “Sierra” box with foam insert, and an outer sleeve featuring alternative artwork. Standard physical editions will also be available.
